The Ultimate Hair Removal Machine

The ultimate hair removal machine is one that you can use yourself in the privacy of your own home to zap your hair until you never see it again. It causes no pain or discomfort at all, it doesn’t make a mess, is easy to use and you are done with it in a few minutes.

Does such a magic hair removing machine exist?

Well, not quite! But we are getting close with some of the newer innovations on the market these days although lets face it, removing hair from the root which is surrounded by nerve ends is never going to pain or discomfort free unless you are anesthetized.

So what are these new permanent hair removal machines? Unfortunately you will hear about many more machines in advertisements than can actually do the job so you do have to be careful not to believe all you read about every “permanent hair removal machine”.

Biggest hair removal wish? The ultimate hair removal machine

Here are the two that I have looked into quite a bit. They have, it has to be said, mixed reviews but in many cases that is due to the unrealistically high expectations of some customers rather than a fault with the machines. Permanent hair removal is always going to be a slow process needing plenty of patience but if you are willing to learn the skills and techniques, these machines will do the job.

1. Laser Hair Removal

The laser hair removal machine which seems to have the best reviews from genuine customers is the Silk’n. It is only for those who want to remove body hair and who have dark hair and fair skin but if you belong in that category you should take a look at this. Unfortunately home laser hair removal machines have not been developed which deal with darker skins (although there are some machines in clinics which claim to have success with darker skins even professional laser treatment is not as effective with darker skin coloring). Also the machine is not considered safe to use on your face so do not buy it for that purpose.

2. Electrolysis

There is a permanent hair removal machine which has been around for years and which is the only solution in my view for treating facial hair at home for permanent removal. This electrolysis machine gets little attention because it takes a bit of practice and patience to get used to it and make it work for you but it is effective if you are determined to deal with an unwanted hair problem at home. It is the One Touch electrolysis hair removal machine. Whereas the home laser machines cost a few hundred dollars this little machine costs little. Just don’t expect miracles unless you are prepared to work with it. And it probably not wise to practice on your face until you know what you are doing and are happy with the results you are getting from working on a leg or arm!

Instead of waiting for your three wishes from the genie, and asking for one of those pain free no fuss models, check out these two machines and see if they are worth buying in the absence of a miracle.

Which Home Hair Removal Machine?

If you are fed up paying for professional treatments or you just don’t have the budget or time for them then a home hair removal machine makes a lot of sense.

Provided that you buy the right machine (see below) and follow the instructions without wavering you can save a packet and get the smooth skin you desire without having to travel to appointments. Remember, using a hair removal machine at home will still take a bit of time, however. You have to be prepared for that and have patience otherwise your purchase will be a waste of money.

Temporary or Permanent hair Removal?

GiGi Professional Waxing Kit

GiGi Professional Wax Kit

If you are happy with temporary hair removal solutions, you can buy a waxing kit complete with wax warmer machine which will do an effective job of keeping you hair free for weeks at a time.

Waxing hurts, especially when you first do it and are not used to the process, but after the first few attempts you will see that waxing is not that painful, the hair gets weaker and this is a great way of removing hair.

If you want to cut your learning curve, have a professional waxing treatment before you attempt to treat yourself and you find out exactly how the experts do it.

If you are looking for more permanent results you have two options when it comes to home hair removal machines. You can buy an electrolysis kit or a laser hair removal machine.

Electrolysis Machines

With professional electrolysis hair removal each individual hair is subjected to a tiny electric current through a probe which is inserted alongside the hair follicle. This can be painful as you feel each zap of the current though it is bearable. The skin is not pierced as the probe is inserted just a tiny way into the surface of the skin. Once treated the hair should come out quite easily and is removed with tweezers.

There are electrolysis machines for home use which work in the same way. You will find that it takes patience to learn to use them properly and you should always practice on an unobtrusive area like your leg before moving onto a sensitive area like your face especially as you can damage your skin if you do not follow the instructions.

The problem with electrolysis is that it is slow. Bad enough that you have to treat one hair at a time but the fact remains that one treatment may not be enough to remove hair permanently. With this hair removal system, the hair will grow back if you do not treat it when it is in the right stage of growth or if you miss the follicle or if the current is not strong enough. If you persevere however you will eventually kill all the hair follicles for good, which is not true of any other method. If patience is not your strong point, this type of hair removing machine is probably not the best hair removal machine for you.

When you buy an electrolysis machine be careful about the type you buy. Some of the so-called electrolysis hair removal equipment for home use does not have a probe and the sellers create attractive ads promoting pain free hair removal as well as permanent hair removal at home. However, with these hair removal machines, you grasp each hair with electronic tweezers and the electric current is supposed to travel down the hair and kill the follicle without a probe getting anywhere near it. These machines do not work so don’t waste your money.

The most well known brand of electrolysis hair remover machines, which work with a probe is the One Touch. See our One Touch Electrolysis system review for details

Laser Hair Removal Machines For Home Use

Professional laser hair removal is quicker than electrolysis (by far) as a whole group of hairs are treated with one pulse of the laser. You will still need a number of sessions (probably about six) for best results as you still have to reach the pesky hairs at the right stage of growth. The treatment generally results in a permanent reduction in hair though some hair will often grow back and you will need top up treatments to deal with any regrowth. If you want to cut the cost of laser hair removal treatment which can set you back a thousand or more, why not buy a home laser hair removal machine. These typically cost a few hundred and you can treat yourself over and over, without worrying about the cost of the initial treatment or the top ups.

Of course these home hair removal systems are not as powerful as the ones which cost tens of thousands which professional laser hair removal clinics use and they are generally designed to treat just a few hairs at a time as well so you will need to spend longer treating yourself and the results may not be so dramatic so quickly. But if you understand that and have a bit of patience you can save huge amounts and your whole body can be hair free by treating yourself regularly until the hair is gone in the comfort of your own home. With laser home hair removal, top ups can be done as needed, no need for vast additional expense and inconvenience at the clinic. However take care if you do not have fair skin and dark hair as you may need a specialist machine in a clinic for successful treatment rather than an all-purpose home hair removal machine.

When it comes to choosing home laser hair removal systems, the main thing to watch out for are that the machine is approved by the FDA for home use. This will be true of all machines sold in the US. If you live elsewhere look for an equivalent accreditation in your country especially if advertising standards are not so strict or choose a machine which is approved for the U.S.m, which is also sold in your country. Also look at the number of hairs that can be treated with one pulse as this will determine the time it will take you to treat yourself. Finally check out the reviews on an independent consumer site for any machine you are thinking of buying so you get the best results for your money.

The Ultimate Hair Plucker Machine

Plucking is a very effective way of getting rid of individual hairs. It is precise and once you pull the hair out, you generally don’t see any regrowth of the hair you removed for a few weeks. However, pulling out hairs one at a time, unless you are talking about a tiny area like shaping your eyebrows or a few hairs on your chin, is too time consuming, . Imagine if you had to pull out every hair on your legs one by one. You really need a machine that will do this for you. Enter the ultimate hair plucker machine, also known as an epilator.

Some epilators work with spinning disks or coils to trap the hair, but others have multiple sets of tweezers to pluck hair as you move them over your skin. When you pull out one hair at a time with tweezers, it is quite painful, so you imagine with an epilator it will be many times more painful, but somehow it isn’t. Of course, you will feel a bit sore as you move the epilator over your unwanted hair but many epilators have built in pain reduction devices such as a massage head or cooling device which soothes your skin as it goes.

Also you will find that you get used to the process and often hair gets weaker the more you use your epilator so that if you persevere you won’t mind epilating your legs at all, especially as it means that a 10 minute session will give you smooth, hair free legs for a few weeks.

It is a bit like waxing in that respect. The first time is more painful than any other time. Unlike waxing, however, you don’t have to make any appointments at a salon for this or pay for expensive treatments – so you can have smooth legs AND a new dress. And epilators tend to last a long time – my first lasted well over 10 years and my second is still going strong after 5 so they are great value for money.

Sometimes I have seen manufacturers offer a money back guarantee so that if you don’t like your chosen hair removal machine, you can get your money back. It’s their way of getting you to try something that sounds painful. But my advice is to give an epilator a try no matter how painful you think it sounds and definitely not to give up and get your money back after trying it once. You have to persevere a bit and you’ll learn to love this method of hair removal.

If you find using an epilator a bit sore, you don’t need to tackle large areas straight away. Just do a small section of your legs every day – even if you just focus on a two inch square you’ll soon get your whole leg completed. Once you’ve done that carry on epilating every week so that only the few hairs that were in a resting phrase need to be removed. You’ll find that much easier and faster than your initial session with your epilator. Week by week the process will get easier and easier. After a few months of having completely smooth legs like that with no mess and no fuss, you will be hooked.

There are quite a few epilators on the market right now. You will find a great selection here at a discount and with free shipping. Pick your “ultimate hair plucker machine” after reading the reviews there.

If I was choosing a new one for a beginner today it would be the Braun Silk Epil X’elle Easy Start Epilator but that may change as new models come out all the time, and most of these hair removal machines work effectively so it would be best to read the current reviews. Just a word of caution if you do, some of these buyers seem to be gluttons for punishment, epilate their most painful areas first with the highest setting and still love their machine! Don’t let them put you off and if you haven’t epilated before start on your legs, rather than the most sensitive areas like the underarms…
