Epila Laser Hair Removal

14 August, 2009 (18:45) | Laser Hair Removal | By: Veronique

The Epila laser hair removal machine is available at a discount on Amazon. That looked like good news for those of you looking to get rid of unwanted hair without breaking your budget. (After all professional laser hair removal prices can be hundreds of dollars a session and you need several sessions to complete your treatment). So I thought I’d take a look at the comments of those who had bought the Epila laser hair remover and see what they had to say.

Oh dear! I so wanted another option to offer which was cheaper than the Silk’n home laser hair removal product I reviewed earlier but the Epila laser hair removal system is not something that I can recommend to anyone based on the twenty or so Epila reviews on Amazon.

I know that all such products need a willingness to carry out repeated treatments (as you often don’t get to kill the follicles the first time around) and many customers lose patience and give a bad review but there must be a good proportion of customers who are happy with the product for me to recommend it. (There seems to be only 2 real people out of 20 who are happy when I read the reviews and then I start to wonder if the real people are real)

Epila Laser Hair Removal SystemIt’s a shame as when I saw the Epila I noticed it was a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Silkn product and therefore within the reach of a lot of people who want to save money on professional laser treatment. But too many Epila laser reviews are screaming “Don’t buy it!” and you should be really wary of going anywhere near the system. That means you only have the option of paying a few hundred dollars for a machine like the Silk’n or paying for expensive laser treatments in a salon. Why oh why doesn’t someone invent a cost-effective permanent easy pain-free hair removal treatment? Just so sorry the Epila Laser hair removal system isn’t it.

Hair Remover

18 August, 2009 (03:23) | Hair Removal, Hair Removal Views | By: Veronique

Oh how I wish I had a magic hair remover that would just whisk hair away never to be seen again without any mess or pain and we could give up the whole miserable hair removal process. Maybe I’m having a bad day but suddenly every hair removal method look like not quite good enough. I am coping quite well as I have my methods worked out but I wish I didn’t have to bother. And I’m sure many men would rather not shave too. Maybe the answer is that we should forget hair removers and just give ourselves a break and love ourselves just the way we are. But I’d still rather have a hair remover to work it’s magic and make me smooth and hair-free without the bother.

What exactly have I got against every hair removal method today?

1. Pain

Either you remove hair from the surface of the skin without pain and it grows back in a couple of days or you have the pain of removing it from the root. It hurts – no two ways about it. Even if you pay big bucks for a permanent solution you are still getting rid of the hair at the follicle and that means pain. Some devices are on the market like the Epila laser hair remover say they are pain free but pain free generally means that they don’t work!

2. Time

Removing hair eats up your time whether it’s shaving, waiting for depilatory cream to work or getting to appointments at a salon. It takes up hours of your precious time (and even days and weeks over your lifetime). You’ll always find ads for a quick facial hair remover or a fast permanent hair remover but they are never quite as speedy as you’d like i.e. taking no time at all.

3. Mess

If you confine the whole thing to a salon then they get to deal with any mess (and no doubt you pay for that) but if you remove hair at home it’s you who has to clean up any sticky wax residue or any blobs of depilatory cream which fall on the floor. Anyone had to clean Nair hair remover cream from the bedroom carpet like me?

4. Cost

We either pay a big cost for a permanent hair removal method or we pay over and over for waxing treatments (or home wax products), depilatory creams and razors. We buy waxing kits and epilators. We buy facial hair removers, cold wax strips and bleach. Our money could be better spent on more fun stuff if we didn’t care about our unwanted hair.

Never mind, forgive my rant! Despite all that I will still be continuing my hair removal routines and testing with all kinds of hair removers always looking for a better hair remover that will reduce the pain, time, cost and mess. I like my smooth skin! Just a pity we have not found the ideal solution yet!

Home Laser Hair Removal System

27 August, 2009 (04:01) | Laser Hair Removal | By: Veronique

If you prefer to remove hair yourself you have probably longed for an effective home laser hair removal system to remove your unwanted hair permanently and without fuss. It’s very appealing to zap your hair at home and not to have to make tedious appointments at a hair removal clinic.

As there are several laser systems for home use on the market you may think it’s just a case of choosing one and you’re done. But unfortunately most of them are not great so it’s a case of buyer beware.

We have already talked about a few systems in our reviews such as the Silk’n, the Epila and the Rio hair removal system but you may come across others (and we will eventually get around to reviewing them too – let us know if you have a particular one you would like us to look at). The problem with this kind of product is that you may find reviews online but many of them are from companies selling the systems rather than from those who bought a particular system doing a genuine consumer review. So don’t believe everything you read.

If you want to see genuine reviews of buyers here’s a link that will take you to the range of laser hair removal products available at Amazon. There you can look at the individual systems and get a feel for which are the good ones.

Be aware however that results will vary and opinions differ with EVERY system and that it is often (although not always) as much to do with the person operating the equipment as the laser hair removal system itself.

Remember

  1. Results won’t be instantaneous. Yes, the machine should remove hair with each laser pulse but it may come back if it was not at the right stage of growth to be destroyed. You can’t tell if that it the case by looking at your hair so you just have to keep carrying out the treatment so that you catch hair at the right time until it does not return.
  2. You need to take care with your skin and start at low levels and less sensitive areas until you are used to the process on YOUR skin. You may see a few reviews from those who have hurt their skin a bit so you need to take care. These machines are not toys. It’s a case of getting the balance right between destroying as much hair as possible and leaving your skin as unaffected as possible so go easy with this until you get the right level for you (although I know how tempting it is to want to zap that hair RIGHT NOW!
  3. You also need to have the right type of skin for these machines. Don’t buy a laser hair removal system unless you have the easiest type of hair and skin to treat – fair skin and dark hair. Anything else and you need to go for professional laser treatment instead.
