Permanent Facial Hair Removal

If you have unwanted facial hair then you want it to be gone for good and never have to worry about it again. But what are your options for permanent facial hair removal?

Surprisingly despite endless research done over the years you still have only one option for complete permanent removal of facial hair and that is electrolysis. Although facial laser hair removal can promise a permanent reduction in hair growth only electrolysis has been proven to offer permanent hair removal.

Permanent facial hair removal can improve your confidence

If you have extensive areas of excess hair on your face you may still want to consider laser hair removal as this is considerably faster (and a bit less painful) than electrolysis. Though you will need several sessions to deal with your excess hair you will get a permanent reduction in growth. And you may then be able to get by with a few top up sessions or even just tweezing out the odd stray hair if you are not lucky enough to achieve permanent removal.

However if you have a small area to treat then my recommendation for permanent hair removal remains electrolysis. The hairs are treated and removed one by one making it a long drawn-out process. However, slowly but surely they will disappear for good. (Like laser hair removal for the face (or anywhere else) you have to “catch” the hairs at the right stage of regrowth to make sure the follicle is killed and unfortunately you can’t tell at what stage each hair is until it tells you by not growing back!)

Both electrolysis and laser hair removal are expensive and you have to be able to afford a whole course of treatment not just a single session at the salon but I really do think it is worth the expense to achieve permanent facial hair removal. Many girls feel like a new person when they get rid of this annoying and embarrassing problem. I know – I was one of them. And I have never looked back or ever regretted the money spent on those treatments.

If professional treatments are beyond your budget, then there is an alternative in the One Touch home electrolysis system. it’s not ideal to use a DIY approach for treating your face and I certainly would not start on my face until I had built up some skill with the machine but it is a very low cost solution if you truly can’t afford electrolysis.

By the way you may see ads about the place for permanent facial hair removal cream. There are some creams available on prescription which may help but I have yet to see anything as effective as electrolysis (or even laser hair removal) at removing facial hair permanently.

Finally Free Hair Removal System Review

The Finally Free hair removal system is a home electrolysis type product which is supposed to kill hair by gripping with special tweezers through which you send a weak current before pulling the hair out.

Apparently you have to grip the hair with the tweezer for around 30 seconds. This is going to be a long slow process especially as you have to catch hair during its growth phase to kill the follicle and prevent it growing back.

This means you probably have to treat many of your unwanted hairs more than once. (That’s not unusual. It’s the same for every method of permanent hair removal including professional electrolysis but usually it does not take 30 seconds to treat each hair either).

The Finally Free system is advertised as permanently removing hair in two to four treatments. They say it is a painless and clinically proven way to permanently remove unwanted hair and that it uses radio frequency to deaden hair at the root and is “as effective as electrolysis”

Not according to the buyers on Amazon it isn’t and it seems that the company have stopped selling there due to low ratings and so many scathing reviews such as

“Do not buy this product. it does not work, and it is a pain to think that this product got my hopes up to permanently remove embarrassing hairs. All I have to say is, Finally Free will be be Finally Chucked in the Garbage for me.

Don’t believe anybody who writes that this product works, because it does not and cannot – the whole concept of killing hair roots by electric current is false and utopic because it’s been proved that the hair is not an electric current transistor (even if it’s completely wet, the electric current won’t penetrate below the skin surface).

Note that the probe/needle used in true electrolysis has to be inserted beside the hair follicle for the current to do it’s job.

According to the FDA, there is no statistically significant data available (even from their “published trials” which I had no luck in locating) to support claims of long-term or permanent hair removal through use of tweezer-type epilators. Bottom line…check the advertiser’s claims before you buy their product because obviously these claims don’t hold water!”

Bottom line is, don’t buy the Finally Free hair removal system because it won’t work for you or anyone else. Home electrolysis is not ideal. I would much prefer you attend a professional but if it is the best solution for you take a look at our review of the One Touch Permanent Hair Remover system – still not perfect but it seems that genuine buyers have had some success with this one.

Face Hair Removal – The Best Method

You may have been thinking about face hair removal for some time wondering what to do about it or maybe you’ve tried a few ways to remove your unwanted facial hair and have found them far from ideal. I know, I tried a few myself many moons ago before I found a permanent way to deal with facial hair.

But I’m not going to tell you about a miracle product that I tried and all the hair was gone like in those scam ads. Believe me there are no such miracle products (although I wish there were). In fact, there is only one proven and FDA approved method to permanently get rid of facial hair. So guess what, I used it!

You see the best method is electrolysis – it’s as old as the hills but it works and it’s still the only way to remove every hair you want rid of permanently.

Face hair removal by electrolysis

Of course facial laser hair removal works permanently too to an extent (and may be best if you have large amounts of facial hair to deal with as it is faster and less painful to deal with larger areas) but it does not promise permanent removal of every hair just a permanent reduction in hair growth.

In any case I had relatively few hairs to deal with and with electrolysis they were gone and have not come back decades later. So I can vouch for the performance of the solution.

If you’re considering face hair removal I would go along to a local licensed salon and talk to them about electrolysis for your face and see if it’s a solution for you too. It can take some months of short 15 minute treatments to rid yourself of unwanted hair but the sooner you start the sooner you will be free of the problem.

Of the temporary methods of facial hair removal there’s really nothing ideal due to regrowth problems but you may find a facial depilatory cream is good for a few days and waxing for a few weeks if your skin can stand up to the treatment OK and does not become too sore.

If you only have the odd stray hair on chin or upper lip then plucking with tweezers is just fine although you should not pull the hairs from moles – you should treat these by snipping with scissors close to the skin surface rather than treating them with normal face hair removal methods.

Best Electrolysis Machines to Use at Home

Electrolysis is the only method of removing hair permanently for everyone. While laser hair removal can cause a significant reduction in hair growth, it does not work well for those with dark skin or light hair, and in many cases top up treatments are required to deal with regrowth. The problem with electrolysis is how slow it is. To clear an area of any size of unwanted hair can take many months of treatment. Each hair has to be treated with the electrolysis probe individually and it will only kill the hair if the hair is in the right stage of growth and the probe hits the hair follicle in the right place and with enough current to kill it.

Because it is such a slow process, electrolysis can be expensive. The cost of all those treatments mounts up and it can be pretty inconvenient to get to all the appointments too, especially if you have a busy job or young kids or both. As a result, it can be a practical alternative to use an electrolysis machine at home.

But what are the best electrolysis machines to use?

The main thing to look for in a machine for home use, is the way the procedure is performed. There are some manufacturers which produce an “at home electrolysis machine” but when you read how it is supposed to work, it is entirely different from the machines which professionals use. Avoid these products because they do not work. They are often described as painless or pain-free. This is a bad sign. If you cannot have effective professional electrolysis without pain, then you can’t achieve the same at home either.

Most of the ineffective machines are supposed to work by gripping each hair with electric tweezers and then applying the current. The current is supposed to travel down the hair to the root and kill it after you grip the hair for a number of seconds. Believe me, no hairs will be killed and you will waste a lot of precious time trying and wondering where you are going wrong. There are some quite expensive machines in this category such as the Aavexx 300 or 349 range and the Vector Electrolysis System too. You will not get great results from these despite the expense.

The best electrolysis machines work like professional machines.

The professional machines always have a probe which you insert beside the hair follicle and the current is passed down the probe to reach the root of the hair where it is needed. To get the best electrolysis at home, your machine needs to do that too. There are machines at all price ranges. If you are on a very low budget the best home electrolysis machine is the One Touch which is less than $50 but there are also machines which are more robust and closer to professional machines such as the V2R Professional Electrolysis System for Permanent Hair Removal. The latter will set you back a few hundred dollars though.

Actually I would start with the One touch and see if you have the patience for the whole process before you go spending a lot on a more professional machine. It takes practice to learn to perform electrolysis effectively and you may find that you give up before you get anywhere if you are not highly motivated to get rid of your unwanted hair for good. Also, don’t start on your face. Electrolysis is one of the best means of getting rid of facial hair but if you are not careful with your machine and use too high a setting you may damage your skin a bit and you can better do that on your leg than your face.

In fact, many professional electrologists are reluctant to work on their own faces as it is difficult to get the angle right for inserting the probe. Again it is a case of how motivated you are and prepared to practice and take care to do things slowly whether you will be ultimately successful even if you own one of the best electrolysis machines.
