Electrolysis Services

4 August, 2009 (10:03) | electrolysis | By: Veronique

If you are looking for a permanent hair removal method then you would do very well to consider the various electrolysis services available in your area through beauty salons and clinics to see what they offer. Electrolysis is the only proven way to permanently remove unwanted hair. (The most that laser hair removal offers is a permanent reduction).

Electrolysis services are likely to be available from a large number of practitioners so it makes sense to do a little research and talk to a few salons looking at the services and prices they offer before deciding. You may get a good recommendation from someone which may help in your choice but if not, here are some factors to think about

Are the Electrologists Trained and Licensed?

This is a requirement to practice elctrolysis in many states and countries but if that is not the case in yours then always go with a company where full-training has been given. So much success depends on the skill of the operator. Five minutes electrolysis treatment in the hands of a trained operator is more effective than 20 minutes with someone with fewer skills (not to mention safer for your skin!) Ask if the staff get regular updates on the latest techniques.

Does the Salon Provide Good Information on Electrolysis?

The more information you have on your electrolysis treatment and what to expect the better. If the consultants take time with you before you start treatment to give you information then it shows that they have a caring attitude to their customers. And do they give you a realistic view of results including the number of sessions you might need and the likely costs of electrolysis? You need to be aware that many sessions may be needed and if the salon does not tell you this then they may be in “selling” rather than “customer care” mode. Of course, each person is different but it is important to understand the likely length of each electrolysis session, the interval between sessions, the number of months you will need to attend appointments and the total cost of treatment. Request before and after pictures of the results achieved with electrolysis. If the salon has been in business a few years and have documented their work they should be able to show impressive results. Also ask about any (rare) side effects.

Are the Electrolysis Services Convenient?

By that I mean is the salon in a location which is easy to get to bearing in mind that you may have to return many times to complete your electrolysis treatment? Are there parking facilities? Do the appointment times fit in with when you are available? Remember if you have electrolysis on your face you will hae some redness so you may want to have treatment at the end of the day rather than just before a work or social appointment.

Salon Environment

Does the salon use state of the art electrolysis equipment? Look for a clean environment above all and one which offers privacy while you are undergoing treatment. Ask about their policy on needle or probe use and disposal. You should get a clean needle each time. If you are comfortable about the environment it will help reduce any stress you may feel at undergoing a new procedure.

Cost of Electrolysis Treatment

While the cost of electrolysis many be at the forefront of your mind when considering services, it is not worth cost-cutting in favor of some of the other factors here. Electrolysis may seem expensive but in the long run it is far cheaper than constantly paying for temporary methods of hair removal and it is worth paying for electrolysis services to achieve permanent hair removal. Just make sure that you can afford to complete the full course of treatment.

Home Electrolysis Hair Removal

It sounds brilliant doesn’t it? At home electrolysis hair removal – the means to deal with your unwanted hair in the calm and privacy of your own home without making appointments or shelling out huge amounts for professional treatments. What could be better?

I have to admit the idea has a lot going for it. It’s just that if you have the cash I think it’s still probably best to put yourself in the hands of the experts who have trained long and hard to effectively treat your unwanted hair as quickly as possible.

I know, I know. You don’t have the cash for professional electrolysis services (or it’s difficult for you to get to appointments due to other commitments) and you’re desperate for a solution. If that’s the case then a low-cost home electrolysis machine might just suit you provided you are willing to spend time getting to know the machine and your skin and hair with lots of practice.

One Touch home electrolysis systemMany people expect to buy a system such as the One Touch home electrolysis machine (the best of the home electrolysis kits on the market) and be able to whisk away their excess hair overnight. It’s just not going to happen like that I’m afraid (and would not even if you had professional electrolysis). Unwanted hair is not so happy to be done away with and has some determination to stick around. So you have to be just as determined to deal with each and every hair to get rid of it for good.

To succeed you have to

a) put the probe into the hair follicle at the right place
b) give it a strong enough current to kill it
c) catch it at the right time

Even trained electrologists need to treat hairs several times to get them at just the right point so it’s important not to give up too soon. If you believe you have the patience to succeed take a look at our One Touch review which will give you an idea about whether this (or indeed any other home electrolysis hair removal) is right for you or not.

The Best Electrolysis Machine

27 October, 2009 (14:14) | electrolysis | By: Veronique

If you have decided that you would like to try electrolysis to permanently remove hair but are hesitating about embarking on months of costly treatment you may have thought about investing in an electrolysis machine to carry out the treatment yourself at home.

If you are thinking of buying a home electrolysis machine you need to be aware that there are a quite a few that don’t work. I’ll say more on that in a moment but first of all I want to make sure it is clear that even those electrolysis home kits which work are not for everyone. I have written about this before but I’ll say it again in case you are new to this site.

You see you need quite a bit of patience to carry out electrolysis on yourself. The operators of a professional electrolysis machine are trained beauticians and they go through a stringent certification before they are let loose on the public. So it stands to reason that you can’t immediately dive in and whisk away all your hair in 5 minutes.

Also the process itself can be slow as you are working on each individual hair. You will be surprised at how many little unwanted hairs there are in a square inch of skin. And you need to catch each one at the right stage of growth – or it grows back!

If you are thinking of treating your face, I would also advise that you get a bit of practice on less sensitive areas of the body and work up to any more sensitive areas. All in all this can take a fair bit of time. But then so does professional electrolysis. In that too you have to treat each individual hair at the right stage of growth.

If you think you do have the necessary patience and want to try out electrolysis at home avoid any system that says it works by grasping the hair and shooting an electric current through it. These systems are ineffective for permanently removing hair.

The electrolysis systems which work are those with a probe which you insert into the hair follicle without breaking the skin. The only system that exists like this as far as I know for the home market is the One Touch. Take a look at the Reviews on Amazon and see what you think. They are not all good by far but you won’t see any system with better reviews because of the inherent difficulty in the electrolysis process (unless the reviews are fake that is!)

Is Hair Electrolysis the Best Permanent Solution?

15 January, 2010 (19:26) | electrolysis | By: Veronique

There is an age old question of whether hair electrolysis is the best solution for removing unwanted hair and the answer as always is “it depends”. You see when looking at laser hair removal vs electrolysis it would seem that electrolysis comes out on top as it is the only proven method of permanent hair removal. But the problem is that it is so slow and laborious and this means that it is very time consuming and expensive.

This makes facial hair electrolysis a viable process and probably the best solution for dealing permanently with unwanted hair there but makes it pretty impractical for excess hair when you are treating larger expanses of the body. If you are looking at back hair removal or leg hair removal for example don’t think about electrolysis in the first instance unless you have more time on your hands than you know want to do with and deep pockets enough to deal with the high electrolysis hair removal cost. (Although individual sessions are not so expensive as laser hair removal treatment, you need many more of them over a longer period). So take your money and don’t spend it on electrolysis. Laser hair removal is the answer in this case. Although you may not get rid of every hair permanently you will get rid of most of your unwanted hair relatively quickly. And if you so desire you can then deal with the stragglers with electrolysis if you want.

Unfortunately you need pretty deep pockets for laser hair removal too so if professional treatment of either type is beyond your budget but you have a bit of time and patience you can buy an electrolysis hair removal system for home use quite cheaply. It is not like getting professional electrolysis services however as you need to build up skill with practice but you will eventually be able to remove your hair permanently if you are determined enough and even achieve permanent facial hair removal as well as removal of body hair if that is your aim.

Of course the best method of electrolysis permanent hair removal is still attending a clinic which has a specially trainer operator to remove your hair but if that is not a option for you because you are unable to attend the appointments or you don’t have the funds the One Touch electrolysis hair remover might be the answer for you.

Before you decide check out the reviews of this electrolysis machine to see what buyers have to say about it. You will see that they are quite mixed so don’t expect miracles and remember that you will need patience and perseverance if you use it.

One Touch Electrolysis

14 May, 2010 (11:40) | electrolysis | By: Veronique

One Touch electrolysis systems have been around for years yet there has been very little true competition for these low cost little kits as far as permanent hair removal at home is concerned. That is not to say they are perfect, but if you want to be able to remove hair permanently in the comfort of you own home, they may be exactly what you need.

For example, just one review of the One Touch will tell you what a wonderful innovation they have been for some struggling with unwanted hair:-

“I love this product. It works so well. Yes it is tedious, and there is a little discomfort, but it’s no more painful than plucking and you don’t have to shave ever again (which I used to do every other day). It’s the best thing and I don’t know how I lived without it.”

To help you make up your mind, read on for more information about the One Touch as well as potential alternative offerings.

Laser hair removal has been much more popular than electrolysis in recent years as far as professional hair removal is concerned. That is mainly because it is less painful (although not pain free) and much faster (especially important when dealing with larger areas of the body). However, electrolysis remains the only method that can guarantee permanent hair removal for everyone as laser treatment is less effective for those with dark skin and not effective at all for those with fair, red or gray hair and it often results in only permanent hair reduction rather than removal for others. You can buy laser hair removal machines for use at home but you will have the same limitations and the machines are not approved for facial hair removal either so you have yet another restriction.

When looking for a home electrolysis machine you will come across quite a lot of gadgets which claim that they work by electrolysis but the One Touch is one of the few which works in the same way as a professional machine. A number of the others claim to be pain free and are supposed to work by gripping the hair with tweezers and then passing an electric current down them to kill the hair. THESE DO NOT WORK and hair will not be killed so don’t buy a machine which claims this.

Advantages of the One Touch Electrolysis System

  1. Works in the same way as professional machines and therefore results in hair eventually being killed
  2. Very low cost – much cheaper than going for professional treatment
  3. A small discrete unit. Can be used anywhere.
  4. Very convenient to be able to treat yourself at home. You can work on your unwanted hair while you watch TV!
  5. One unit to buy and then you can treat nearly every part of your body including you face

Of course, nothing is all good otherwise we would all buy a One Touch electrolysis machine and get rid of every hair on our bodies we didn’t want! Here are the things to be aware of, if you are thinking of buying one.

Potential Drawbacks for the One Touch

  1. You will need to practice a bit to get used to working with the machine and you will need to start with low levels of output (which are likely to be less effective) and with less sensitive and visible parts of the body until you get the hang of it. Remember professional electrologists train hard to be able to perform this treatment
  2. These machines take just as much patience as going for professional electrolysis treatment. You treat one hair at a time and you may need to treat each hair several times before it is gone for good. Do not buy a One Touch if you are not prepared to put some time into getting the skills you need and into working on your unwanted hair. False expectations in this department is the reason for a number of poor reviews with the machine. /li>
  3. If you are not the kind of person to read instructions and go steady and slowly, this machine is probably not for you as going mad zapping your hair with the highest level current before you know what you are doing can be both painful and result in scarring.
  4. Electrolysis at home (if it is working) is just as painful as professional electrolysis. It is bearable but not particularly pleasant.

If you are determined enough to persevere and would like to pursue this further, you can buy One Touch electrolysis HERE and also see more One Touch reviews from buyers – including those who wish they had not bought for some of the reasons I outline above!
